Raptor Domes™ & Creativity Part 8
In this post we will be discussing bringing NATURE into the creative space or BIOPHILIA.
I actually just began to read about Biophilia in the last few days and here it is mentioned today in Donald’s book!
So why does nature play such an important role in stimulating CREATIVITY?
Donald discusses several theories that have been presented and researched.
The first deals with FRACTURALS in nature. Here is what he says:
“Because the shapes are similar it doesn’t take a lot of mental energy to visualize in masse.”
This also refers to what I learned in an ALUX video that says that we can only FOCUS for about 25 MINUTES at a time and then we need 5 MINUTES of relaxation. Donald discusses the same ratio and suggest we use this relaxation time to focus on NATURE like I do outside my window.
Another theory is that during our human evolution, we considered plants and natural settings as our means for food and shelter. This has become wired in our brains and now we immediately associate nature as a place to relax, which must be used in conjunction with FOCUSED activity to bring about creativity.
There are numerous other theories presented by ENVIRONMENTAL PSYCHOLOGISTS but the important factor is bringing in NATURE to your creative space.
Here are several ways he suggest doing this:
Open up your creative space to NATURE. The windows you see in the photo above open up to the sounds of the numerous species of birds I have around me.
Another way that is very popular today is to open up the space totally from the interior to the exterior of the space.
Donald also suggests using NATURAL materials more than man made ones in the space.
Combining a greenhouse with your creative space like my Raptor Bio-Dome™ is another possibility as seen to the left of the Raptor Dome™ home.
