Raptor Domes™ & Creativity Part 10
This time we will be discussing LIGHTING as it applies to CREATIVITY.
Donald says that lighting is very important for promoting creativity in your home or office.
Raptor Domes™ offer lots of light as seen on the two renderings below.
Let’s look at the first rendering.
The light from the back side of the dome can stream in from Caribbean on St Croix USVI with the sunrise. It can be overpowering so we recommended the new window film that can go over each window that through a smartphone or a wall switch can control the lighting in each zone of the dome. When the owners depart for the end of the summer and turn off the lights, the entire dome goes opaque, which keeps nosy potential criminals from seeing what is inside.
In looking at the Jetson’s Dome Home, you see lots of opportunities for light to stream into the greenhouse, home and garage. Again the window film controls the lighting.
So here are tips Donald recommends in his book.
*Use light colored floors, ceilings and walls. We could have used a lighter flooring in the Caribbean home to reflect the light; however the infinity pool does a great job.
*Use a mirror directly opposite the streaming sunlight to reflect more light into a dark space.
*If there is too much sunlight, then use draperies, louvered blinds, roll-down shades, translucent curtains and glazed doors. You might consider awnings, shutters, deep porches like you see on the Jetson’s Dome, and other over hanging architectural features.
